Glessner House, 1911 National Road
William L. Glessner and his wife Martha Wright Glessner built the Colonial Revival house, called "Braeburn." It was tucked back among the trees on land that had been part of the Mary Woods estate and stood at the southern end of Pleasant Valley. The Glessners had previously lived at 1343 National Road and moved to their new home following the wedding of their daughter in 1910. After the death of her husband in 1915, Mrs. Glessner remained in the home until 1930.
Glessner (1848-1915) was president of the Laughlin Nail Company - at the time, the largesy cut nail factory in the world. Glessner Auditorium in Oglebay Park's Wilson Lodge bears his name.
The house was demolished in 2014; An empty lot remains.
